ShoalSense is operated by Alex Hall, trading as ShoalSense (“we”, “us”). By using shoalsense.com you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

What ShoalSense is

ShoalSense is an AI-assisted fishing advisor. It generates fishing tactics, gear recommendations, weather-informed calendars, and species likelihood judgements based on the information you provide and, where relevant, real weather data. It is a planning aid, not a guarantee of anything — least of all fish.

Not professional advice

This is the most important section, so we’re putting it plainly:

• —The tactics, gear, and predictions ShoalSense generates come from an AI model reasoning over the details you give it, plus general and seasonal knowledge. It can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date.
• —You are responsible for checking current local regulations, rod licence requirements, closed seasons, and catch limits for wherever you fish — ShoalSense does not verify these, and you should not rely on it to do so.
• —You are responsible for your own safety around water, including weather conditions, water levels, and site-specific hazards ShoalSense has no way of knowing about.
• —Confidence labels and likelihood judgements (Low/Medium/High) are AI opinions based on species behaviour and available weather data — not statistics, and not a promise of catch success.

Accounts

You must provide an accurate email address and keep your password secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create one.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• —Use ShoalSense to generate content unrelated to fishing, or to try to extract, abuse, or overload the underlying AI model.
• —Scrape, reverse-engineer, or automate bulk requests against the service.
• —Use the service for anything unlawful.

Fees

ShoalSense is currently free to use. We may introduce a paid subscription tier in future — if we do, this page will be updated before that happens.

Gear links point to Amazon search results and are affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made after clicking through. This doesn’t change the price you pay, and it doesn’t influence which gear the Planner or Gear Builder recommends — those recommendations come from the AI reasoning over your trip details, not from what earns the most commission.

Intellectual property

The ShoalSense name, design, and codebase are ours. The plans and loadouts generated for your account are yours to use personally — we don’t claim ownership over your trip details or the outputs generated from them.

Limitation of liability

ShoalSense is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for losses arising from your use of the service, including reliance on AI-generated tactics, gear recommendations, or predictions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the service or breach these terms. You can stop using ShoalSense, or ask us to delete your account, at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
