Pike Lure fishing — Lake Windermere

Cast a 6–8 inch paddle-tail swimbait or large soft plastic shad on a heavy jig head (28–42g) parallel to the reed-bed margins and rocky drop-offs that Windermere is known for, retrieving it slowly and steadily just above the bottom — around 2–5 metres depth. Use a slow, even wind with occasional 2–3 second pauses to let the lure sink back and trigger reaction strikes from pike holding tight to structure. Work the lure across the transition zone between shallow margins and the first significant depth change, covering ground methodically by fan-casting before moving 20–30 metres along the bank. Natural shad-matching colours (perch, roach, or ghost/natural silver) are ideal given Windermere's clear water and abundant natural prey.
